The North American Precision Lightning Networksm (NAPLNsm) is a geographic extension of the United States Precision Lightning Network, utilizing additional sensors in Canada, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean islands, and northern South America. While the USPLN provides coverage beyond the continental US borders, the new sensors in the NAPLN ensure the highest levels of accuracy and efficiency in these expanded areas:

• Canada – all provinces and portions of the territories
• Mexico
• Caribbean
• Gulf of Mexico
• northern South America
• extended coastal regions

The NAPLN builds upon the success of the USPLN by utilizing the same precision time-of-arrival lightning detection technology. The considerable increase in available data in the NAPLN provides significant potential for broader geographic and market reach.
